Project Engineer / Project Manager, Project Management Office (NMC)

We are currently seeking a highly capable Research Project Manager to join our esteemed team. This role requires a skilled individual with a background in STEM disciplines and a track record in project management, particularly within R&D environments. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing and driving forward our research/industry projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and effectively.

Quaifications:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) disciplines
  • Minimum of 1 year of demonstrable experience in project management, ideally within research or R&D environments.
  •  Core Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of research/industry projects from conception through to completion, meticulously managing all aspects of project delivery.
  • Collaborate closely across teams/functional areas; including researchers, engineers, and stakeholders, to define project goals, allocate resources, and establish clear project plans and timelines.
  • Employ robust project management methodologies (e.g. PMP) to monitor progress, identify potential risks and obstacles, and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project-specific communications, providing regular updates to internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating productive collaboration between all parties involved.
  • Continuously evaluate project performance against established metrics (established or ad-hoc), analysing data and feedback to drive process improvements and ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Other requirements:

  • A proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently, while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in managing grant-related projects would be advantageous, though not essential.
  • Proficiency in data-centric tasks, including Python programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, and statistics, is essential.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
