Duties of the Project EngineerDuties of the Project Engineer:
- Provide on-site technical and administrative support for construction activities.
- Review and process RFIs and submittals promptly and accurately.
- Track all project documents in logs and files. Maintain and update all project tracking logs consistently.
- Update project plans with RFIs and supplemental instructions to ensure accurate documentation.
- Assist the CM with estimating and processing change orders, including independently reviewing contractor mark-ups, checking math, verifying scope, and preparing change orders.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the CM as needed.
- Review design drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Review certified payroll, fringe benefits, and hourly rate worksheets.
- Fully manage the close-out and turnover process to ensure a seamless project handoff.
- Oversee daily site operations to ensure work is performed according to project specifications and schedules.
- Monitor contractor performance and adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify progress, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate and facilitate site meetings between contractors, subcontractors, and the project team to resolve on-site concerns.
- Maintain accurate and detailed site logs, including daily reports, weather conditions, and contractor activity.
- Support enforcement of site-specific environmental and safety compliance.
- Provide real-time updates on the CM's on-site activities and potential risks.
- Assist in managing the punch list process, including coordinating with contractors to address outstanding items
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field
- 2+ years Minimum experience in the construction industry as a project engineer or similar
- Solar / PV experience is a plus
- Electrical experience is but not required
- Prior experience working for a general contractor is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and professional attitude
- The position is on-site, in-person only
