Project Estimator- Commercial Construction
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionProject Estimator will:
- Review construction documents and plans and determine which trades, vendors, subcontractors are needed and should be sourced and solicited.
- Understand and Discuss characteristics and attributes of projects to vendors and subcontractors.
- Find and qualify construction vendors and subcontractors in various markets (i.e. plumbers, electricians, excavation and concrete companies.)
- Solicit these companies for pricing on multiple projects.
- Send Bid Invitations to subcontractors and vendors on CDS forms, with relevant information
- Follow up with bidders to ensure we receive pricing and / or bids in a timely manner, and per our bid date / schedule.
- Maintain our database of vendors and subcontractors.
- Organize and file bids and estimates as received in our file system.
- Send out scopes of work for each trade if required. .
- Qualify Bids for completeness and comprehensiveness.
- Inputting line item costs from bids and estimates into our budget worksheets.
Estimators will work closely with our project managers to coordinate and oversee the vendors and/or subcontractors in the bid process. Qualified candidates should have 3-5 years of experience with a background in estimating small to mid-size restaurants, retail and commercial projects. This would include ground-up and interior finish out projects.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates.
- Ability to Analyze construction documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project, and determine which trades are needed.
- Expertise with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional time management skills; highly organized
- Ability to manage multiple projects in the estimating phase at once, while maintaining accuracy and schedule.
- Understanding of the construction process on small - medium sized ground up projects.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
- Managing bids from vendors and contractors
- Demonstrated ability to use bid data to prepare detailed a cost analysis and proposals
- Ability to present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders
