Project Estimator (Commercial Construction)

Dealbreaker: You MUST have significant commercial construction project estimation experience to be considered for this position. Additionally, must know how to estimate all 1- 33 CSI divisions and can quickly complete take-offs on multiple fronts for a large size commercial project.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of estimating practices, methodologies, and a proven track record in successfully managing cost estimates for commercial construction projects. The role requires experience across diverse project types, including retail, education, healthcare, aviation, mission-critical facilities, and private select construction projects.
The Estimator will work closely with the preconstruction and project management teams to develop accurate, competitive, and comprehensive estimates, contributing to the successful completion of projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:

Estimating and Cost Analysis:
- Develop detailed cost estimates based on project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents.
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and subcontractor/vendor pricing to ensure accurate cost projections.
- Prepare conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates across all phases of design.

Bid Management:
- Coordinate the bid solicitation process, including obtaining and reviewing subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Evaluate bid proposals for completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Develop and present bid packages, including scope of work and clarifications, to clients and stakeholders.

Project Collaboration:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, and internal teams during the preconstruction phase to identify cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering options.
- Participate in project planning and scheduling discussions to ensure alignment between cost estimates and project timelines.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain organized and comprehensive documentation for all estimates, bids, and project-related information.
- Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders, highlighting cost variances and risk factors.

Market and Industry Knowledge:
- Stay updated on market trends, materials pricing, and industry advancements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry professionals.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field . Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of commercial construction estimating experience, with a portfolio of projects in retail, education, healthcare, aviation, mission-critical facilities, and private select construction.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, or equivalent).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to read and interpret construction documents, including blueprints and specifications.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present cost data to diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of estimating and documentation.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Estimating, such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), is highly desirable.
- Experience with preconstruction services and value engineering processes.
- Strong understanding of regional construction markets and trade practices.
