Project Manager - Development 

Location: ScottishPower HQ, 320 St Vincent Street, Glasgow. G2 5AD 

Salary from £54,800 with 15% Annual Bonus and Single Person Healthcare

Purpose 

As Project Manager, you will become a valued member of our Onshore Development Team based at our Glasgow HQ. 

This role encompasses all aspects of project development to ensure the effective delivery of Onshore renewable projects to meet the ScottishPower Renewables ambitious Onshore pipeline growth targets with a focus on BESS and Solar PV developments.   
  

Your focus will be on the delivery of planning consents and permits for projects with all necessary financial approvals and budgetary controls associated. 

Establishing strong relationships with all major stakeholders which includes Regulators, Planning Authorities, Governments, Communities, Landowners, Land Agents, Legal Advisors, Sub Consultants and Suppliers, most of your activities will be based within ScottishPower HQ however some travel may be required to facilitate project meetings and site visits.  

Responsibilities 
Leading and recommending appropriate project and commercial strategies to the Senior Project Manager and the Head of Onshore Development (BESS & Solar) to identify management of risks and issues, you will be responsible for financial management which includes budgeting, forecasting, invoicing and cost control, including tendering processes and the effective management of external suppliers and contractors.  
  

Importantly, we look for you to formulate the strategy and review of the Environmental Impact Assessment process, including the preparation of Environmental Statements and planning applications for our Renewables projects, helping support any Planning Appeals process should one arise. This will include the development of strategies to secure the land rights for our projects.  
  

Using your communication skills, you will effectively liaise and consult with Stakeholders, as required, such as Local Planning Authorities, Scottish Government, An Bord Pleanála and the Northern Ireland Department for Infrastructure to secure approval and/or resolution of any issues raised on projects using your innovative thinking and help identify potential mitigation to offset project risk.   

What you’ll bring 

Educated to degree level in a Planning, Environmental or technical discipline, you will possess project management capability and experience. 

Experience in Renewables project design techniques, requirements and/or experience of consenting major infrastructure projects in the UK, you will hold detailed Environmental Impact Assessment skill and awareness. 

Knowledgeable with the local and planning processes, you will also hold some awareness of energy yield assessment and ideally, knowledge of solar and energy storage technologies. 

As a Project Manager with highly developed negotiation and influencing skills, you will be able to oversee the compilation of high-quality Environmental Impact Assessments and to develop and deliver high quality planning applications and fit for purpose consents. 

With a highly developed understanding of the impacts of construction on the environment, you will be an innovative and creative thinker, excellent communicator and you must be highly organised and used to working to very challenging deadlines. 

IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software is required.
