Project Manager
A leading consultancy is looking for a Project Manager to provide support on key infrastructure projects, including work related to the A6MARR, CRSTS Bus Radials, Streets for All, and Strategic Maintenance programmes within the A34 MRN programme.
Scheme Details:
The A6MARR/A555 link road opened in October 2018, and the final stages of this £290m programme are now being closed out. This includes final arrangements for Part 1 Claims, land acquisitions, and a scheme to improve nearby highway drainage systems.
There are a number of schemes funded by the CRSTS Streets for All programme, including improvements to walking and cycling facilities in Heaton Chapel, Hempshaw Lane, Bredbury to Woodley, Town Centre West, and the Greek Street roundabout. These schemes are at varying stages of development, and the Associate Project Manager will lead the final stages of the business case process before handing them over for delivery.
The Associate Project Manager will be responsible for project managing Schemes 8 and 9, as well as closing out Schemes 1, 2, and 3. They will also lead on land acquisition across all schemes.
In addition, there are two further schemes in development within the CRSTS funding stream: a City Centre Radials package on the A6 north of the Town Centre and a ramp connecting Stockport Station to the Thompson Street bridge. The Associate Project Manager will support these schemes through the business case process in line with Transport for Greater Manchester and GMCA requirements.
The Role:
The Associate Project Manager will sit within the Major Projects Team in the Capital Delivery Service and will be responsible for:
* Developing collaborative programmes and ensuring all parties meet key deadlines.
* Overseeing cost estimates, budget monitoring, reviewing contractor valuations/invoices, and producing spend profiles.
* Producing detailed reports to advise stakeholders on project progress.
* Implementing project governance in accordance with funding agreements.
* Conducting site visits during construction to review progress, quality, and site management.
* Engaging with stakeholders, including the public, ward members, and other interested parties.
* Coordinating risk, safety, and quality management throughout project delivery.
* Managing the planning application process for the Thomson Street to Stockport Station Ramp.
* Overseeing land acquisition processes, including CPO arrangements.
* Ensuring accurate financial forecasting to meet business objectives.
Essential Criteria:
* Technical engineering and project management experience to lead the A6MARR Drainage Scheme.
* Strong understanding of planning application processes.
* Knowledge of land acquisition, including CPO arrangements.
* Experience managing projects through various business case stages.
* Familiarity with CRSTS governance processes.
Contract Details:
* Duration: 15 months in total
* 36 hours/week for up to 40 weeks (24th February 2025 – 31st December 2025)
* 20 hours/week for up to 18 weeks (1st January 2026 – 31st May 2026)
* IR35 Status: Inside IR35 £40- £45 per hour
* Hybrid Working: Minimum 3 days office/site, 2 days remote
