Project Manager – Construction Materials Testing
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, UK (Accommodation Provided)
Salary: £35,000 (Depending on Experience) + Overtime
Hours: 40 Hours per Week (Monday to Friday) – Overtime Paid at 1.3x (Mon-Sat) & 2.0x (Sun)

Are you an experienced project manager with a strong background in construction materials testing? Do you thrive in a fast-paced site environment, leading a team and ensuring high-quality testing services?
We are seeking a Project Manager to take charge of a site-based Construction Materials Testing Laboratory in Barrow-in-Furness. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive leader to oversee laboratory operations, ensure compliance with ISO 17025:2017, and contribute to key infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025:2017 and industry standards.
- Supervise a team of laboratory technicians, providing leadership and training.
- Oversee construction materials testing for concrete, aggregates, soil, and asphalt.
- Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to meet project requirements.
- Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Compile and review technical reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
✔ Must Have:
- Project management experience in a laboratory or construction materials testing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 17025:2017 accreditation and compliance.
- Hands-on experience with construction materials testing (concrete, aggregates, soils, asphalt).
- Leadership skills – ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- Valid UK driving licence (site vehicle provided).
✔ Nice to Have:
- Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or Laboratory Management.
- Experience compiling technical reports and managing project documentation.
