Position: Senior Project Planner, PWR-T

Organization

  • Line Supervisor: Project Planning Manager

  • Discipline Supervisor: Discipline responsible within applicable area

  • Operational supervisor: Project Manager

Context

  • The Turnkey and Offshore Project section is responsible for execution of projects within the business group

  • The project management discipline department is responsible for coordination and development of the project management disciplines and shall support the project execution departments with planning and document control services and adequate processes and systems

  • The Senior Project Planner is part of the Project Support team allocated to one or several projects and reporting within the project organization to the corresponding project manager

  • Planning professional questions shall aligned with Discipline Responsible for Planning

  • The matrix organization of the project management requires good communication and information at the interface between vertical and horizontal axes

  • The team is spread between several locations – and may support execution activities ongoing in different plants and sites within the PWR-T business group

  • The Job Description, or parts of it, may be used for temporary roles in specific projects

Purpose

  • Provide planning services to the projects – ensure that the Projects schedule(s) are developed based on the client’s planning principles and Contract requirements to meet contractual and key milestones

  • Ensure high quality and efficient project execution by close and proactive follow-up and timely reporting

  • Provide input to allocated tenders

Areas of responsibility

This role encompasses several key responsibilities across the tender process, project execution, and additional support to projects:

Tender Process Involvement:

  • Provide input for allocated tenders, considering risk and financial aspects.

  • Review and clarify tender specifications for effective planning and control.

Project Execution Oversight:

  • Establish baseline schedules aligned with contract obligations, client expectations, and internal procedures.

  • Regularly update project status by coordinating with various stakeholders and adjust schedules accordingly.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of project scope, critical paths, and interdependencies.

  • Perform detailed analysis, including variation analyses, resource assessments, and risk/opportunity alignment with schedules.

  • Facilitate on-time delivery (OTD) processes and ensure adherence by the project team.

  • Provide internal and external progress reports as per client and organizational requirements.

  • Revise baseline schedules in response to major scope changes and update monthly reports.

  • Forecast and align resource requirements with project team members and line managers.

Additional Project Support:

  • Offer advisory services by conducting analyses and simulations based on project needs

  • Uphold high professional standards and contribute to the development of planning competencies.

  • Support system and competence development through training initiatives.

  • Contribute to skills development, resource planning, and improvement opportunities within the project support section.

  • Assist with other related tasks as directed by management.

Overall, this role ensures effective planning, execution, and support for projects, with a focus on adhering to internal procedures, meeting client expectations, and driving continuous improvement.

  • Active contributor and team member in the project to satisfy both internal and external clients Position sizing

  • Turnover for the projects is in the range 5-1200 MEUR

  • Number of projects / tenders per Project Planner varies

Requested Competencies and Qualification

  • University degree or similar

  • Professional level in the field of project planning

  • Typically 5 – 10 years experience as project planner in relevant sectors

  • General knowledge in project management as well as basic technical and economical understanding

  • Computer skills in relevant software programs like Primavera, MS Project, Excel, Word etc.

  • Writing and oral presentation skills, English and Norwegian.
