Project Surveyor

Overview:

The Project Surveyor is responsible for the overall planning, management, and execution of survey and positioning activities, ensuring that all offshore survey operations are conducted with precision and in accordance with project specifications.

This role involves collaborating with engineering, ROV teams, and sub-contractors to ensure the successful completion of survey operations, while also managing budgets, personnel, and client communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine overall Survey and Positioning methodology for projects.

  • Review and verify engineering documents related to survey operations.

  • Establish offshore survey personnel manning requirements.

  • Define equipment specifications for Survey and Positioning operations.

  • Prepare detailed project procedures for Survey and Positioning tasks.

  • Collaborate with ROV teams to ensure equipment selection is suitable for the tasks.

  • Prepare Scopes of Work for sub-contracted survey and positioning tasks.

  • Develop and manage budgets for Survey and Positioning activities.

  • Raise requisitions for the procurement of rented survey equipment.

  • Serve as the primary point-of-contact for clients regarding Survey and Positioning matters.

  • Coordinate and manage offshore survey personnel.

  • Administer all survey-related project data, proposals, and correspondence.

  • Monitor and report on the progress and status of offshore survey activities.

  • Implement actions to prevent nonconformities related to Survey and Positioning.

  • Provide quality control and approve sub-contractor operations and reports.

  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of data in the correct formats to clients.

  • Supervise and guide office-based personnel during reporting and charting activities.

  • Review and QC as-built data and final reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Maintain detailed records of survey-associated costs and budgets.

  • Provide input and support to the Commercial Department during the tendering phase.

  • Review and validate tender budgets before operational commencement.

  • Assist in the preparation of Survey and Positioning service Frame Agreements.

  • Stay updated on emerging survey technologies that may enhance project operations.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geodetic Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, or a related field.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

  • Specialized courses in GIS, Data Processing, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Offshore/Oil & Gas Construction Engineering.

  • Proven experience in Project Management, particularly in offshore survey operations.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Expertise in Hydrography and Offshore Survey techniques.

  • Strong understanding of Survey and Positioning technologies and methodologies.
