Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Department Manager will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing the raw materials, components, and services to facilitate Lightning Bay Pneudraulics services and products to our customers. You will work with suppliers to negotiate deals on everything from steel to screws to software development.
You will be responsible for managing relationships with vendors and contractors who provide ongoing support services like maintenance or repair work. Help coordinate logistics efforts between different departments within our company.
Job Duties:
- Negotiating prices with vendors to obtain the best price for products or services
- Researching market trends to determine the best time to purchase certain items
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure all purchases meet the company’s needs
- Determining which vendors are most qualified to meet the company’s needs for products or services
- Monitoring inventory levels of supplies and ordering additional stock as needed
- Reviewing bids from prospective suppliers to ensure that they comply with company standards
- Developing a purchasing plan based on the company’s strategic goals
- Reviewing proposals from vendors and selecting those who will receive contracts
- Coordinating with Vice President to draft contracts with suppliers
- Manage other Buyers and Inventory Managing personnel
Responsibilities:
- Research, select and purchase quality products and materials.
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing.
- Process purchase orders and update management on status of orders.
- Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
- Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Coordinate with estimator, shop and management as required.
- Assess quality of products received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
- Develop an efficient and accurate system for monitoring all open purchase orders.
- Work with the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back- ordered or missing products.
- Assist management with maintaining proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- Relevant experience
- Excellent Computer Skills (MS Excel, MS Word and QuickBooks)
- Critical thinking and negotiating skills
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work well with a team
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
