We Are in need of a Quality Assurance Manager (Food Safety) Salary Range $28 - $30 in San Marcos, CA
Job Title: SQF Practitioner with PCQI
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Safety System Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the SQF (Safe Quality Food) System for the facility.
- Ensure that the facility meets the requirements of the SQF Code for food safety and quality management.
- Oversee the preparation for and participation in internal and external audits related to SQF certification.
- Act as the main point of contact for any regulatory, customer, or third-party food safety audits.
- Review and ensure that all food safety practices and documentation comply with SQF and regulatory standards.
- Preventive Controls Management:
- As a PCQI, develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventive controls program, ensuring that food safety risks are identified and mitigated effectively.
- Oversee the development and documentation of Preventive Control plans, including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), allergen control plans, and food defense plans.
- Ensure preventive control measures are properly implemented and monitored within the facility.
- Training and Development:
- Provide training to employees on SQF and food safety requirements, preventive controls, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain records of training programs and ensure ongoing education for all staff regarding food safety and quality standards.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain all necessary documentation for SQF and preventive controls in line with regulatory requirements.
- Review and update the facility's food safety management system and preventive control documentation regularly.
- Manage non-conformances, customer complaints, and corrective actions to address any food safety issues.
- Monitoring and Verification:
- Regularly review and monitor critical food safety parameters, such as temperature controls, sanitation practices, and allergen management.
- Conduct verification activities, including internal audits, to ensure the effectiveness of food safety and preventive control programs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Lead efforts in continuous improvement, identifying areas of potential risk and working with teams to improve food safety practices.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to food safety and quality.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (production, quality assurance, maintenance, etc.) to ensure food safety goals are met.
- Provide leadership in addressing food safety issues and driving a culture of food safety throughout the facility.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) through the FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance).
- Experience in implementing and maintaining an SQF system in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, standards, and practices (e.g., HACCP, FDA regulations, FSMA, GMP).
- Strong understanding of food safety risk analysis and preventive controls.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to drive compliance and continuous improvement in food safety.
Additional Skills ():
- Prior experience with regulatory inspections and audits (e.g., FDA, USDA, SQF, or third-party audits).
- Understanding of the full food production process, from raw material sourcing to finished product shipment.
