The WCIRB is a California unincorporated, private, nonprofit association comprised of all companies licensed to transact workers' compensation insurance in California. WCIRB seeks a quality engineer who is passionate about ensuring the highest standards and committed to delivering innovative automated testing solutions. As a Quality Engineer, you will be pivotal in implementing, maintaining, and executing comprehensive quality strategies. Your contributions will directly impact our software platforms' quality, accuracy, reliability, and performance, ensuring exceptional user experience for our user base.

This role may be filled as a Quality Engineer (up to $120,000) or a Senior Quality Engineer (up to $150,000), depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute automated test solutions using modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium
  • Analyze user stories and requirements to create comprehensive automated functional/system, integration, component, and regression tests
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and design test solutions, resolve defects, and test code changes
  • Collaborate closely with Business and Quality Analysts to better understand coverage, impacts, data, and acceptance criteria
  • Analyze and validate non-functional requirements such as load, performance, and security
  • Assist in the design and implementation of continuous integration and delivery pipelines, including integration of automated tests
  • Generate test reports/dashboards and document software defects and defects trends
  • Work with development, product, and program management teams to ensure software testing requirements are met
  • Continuously improve software testing methodologies and processes

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality engineering
  • A minimum 2 years of experience in .NET and C#
  • Hands-on experience in Visual Studio
  • Experience in testing APIs and using tools such as SoapUI, Postman, Fiddler, etc.
  • Experience in .NET technologies, Azure DevOps, and modern automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium
  • Experience in unit test frameworks such as NUnit, XUnit, MSTest
  • Knowledge of modern development principles such as SOLID, Occam's Razor, TDD, iterative lifecycle process, etc.
  • Experience in cloud testing, Microservice architectures, CI/CD, and Azure environments
  • Experience in SQL to conduct database testing and data validation
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Strong analytical skills with a passion for quality and detail

Nice to Have

  • PowerShell scripting
  • Hands-on Non-Functional Testing Experience (i.e. Performance, Reliability, etc.)
  • Knowledge of non-functional testing such as load, performance, and security
  • Production support, analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, overlaps/Splunk tool usage, etc.

The WCIRB is moving! We will be in our new home in San Francisco in early June! Location is steps from Montgomery Street BART entrance.

NOTE: The successful candidate will reside in California and will work from our headquarters in San Francisco 40% of the time. We are NOT able to pay for relocation costs for candidates.
