Job Summary
Seeking a team member to be an integral part in building a strong quality department and drive quality throughout the company.
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer / Quality Inspector to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role is responsible for performing detailed inspections, utilizing precision measurement tools, managing quality processes, and maintaining compliance with ISO9001/2015 standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspection and Quality Control
- Perform detailed inspections using hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Utilize Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), both manual and programmed, for precision measurement.
- Conduct inspections at various stages: receiving, first article, in-process, and final inspection.
- Identify defects or discrepancies, report findings to the Quality Manager, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Maintain accuracy in measurements according to blueprints, GD&T principles, and quality specifications.
- Oversee the Material Review Board (MRB) process and lead Corrective Action implementations.
Quality Management and Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards, following ISO9001/2015 and AS9100 () guidelines.
- Develop and maintain quality control policies and procedures.
- Conduct internal audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage the calibration of inspection equipment.
- Assist in training employees on Quality Management System (QMS) protocols.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain and update quality metrics on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Create and manage inspection documentation.
- Utilize an MRP system (JobBoss or other) for data entry and quality tracking.
Collaboration and Shop Floor Support
- Work effectively with all departments to meet company quality goals.
- Occasionally assist production teams with quality-related tasks.
- Ensure proper organization and housekeeping in the work area.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required; additional certification .
- ASQ certification in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering within a CNC machining and weld fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in GD&T principles and blueprint interpretation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong understanding of quality control standards and best practices.
- Experience with CMM operation and programming.
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, and plug gauges.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and job travelers.
- Experience in internal auditing and corrective action processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods (8-10 hours per shift).
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 30 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
- Must have 20/20 vision or corrected vision to 20/20.
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts and loud noise (hearing protection required).
