Quality Inspection Team Lead

Position: Inspection Team Lead/CMM Programmer

Department: Inspection

Reports to: Quality Engineer / Senior Quality Manager



Salary: £16.95 per hour



We are seeking a highly skilled Inspection Team Lead/CMM Programmer to manage and oversee the inspection team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in quality control and CMM programming, looking to take on leadership responsibilities while contributing to the continuous improvement of inspection processes.



Key Responsibilities:



* Manage the inspection team, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining high standards throughout the inspection process.



* Train and support inspectors, providing clarification on requirements and inspection methods.



* Identify and implement initiatives to improve inspection efficiency and team performance.



* Develop and refine CMM programs for precise measurement based on customer drawings.



* Approve finished products by verifying specifications, conducting tests, and reporting any issues for rework.



* Create comprehensive dimensional, hardness test, and visual inspection reports.



* Maintain inspection equipment and coordinate repairs as needed with the Quality Engineer / Senior Quality Manager.



* Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and manage non-conforming products.



* Collaborate with production teams to provide feedback and improve quality control measures.



* Assist in NCR investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions.



* Facilitate on-site customer witness activities.



* Ensure compliance with safety and legal regulations within the work environment.



Key Relationships:



* Strong working relationships within the Inspection department and across various levels of the organisation.



* Collaborate with Production Managers and the Quality team for seamless communication.



Required Skills and Experience:



Essential:



* Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.



* In-depth knowledge of geometric tolerances and measurement techniques.



* Skilled in using manual measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore mics, thread gauges, etc.).



* Experience in inspecting machined components.



* Expertise in programming Mitutoyo CMMs with a scanning head.



* Understanding of non-conforming product procedures and customer specifications.



* Familiarity with Rockwell and Brinell Hardness test machines.



Desirable:



* Dye Penetrant PCN Level II certification.



* Qualified Internal Auditor to ISO 9001.



* Experience in creating FAIR documentation.



* Knowledge of Epicor Vantage.



* Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
