Major aerospace and manufacturing company is seeking Quality Inspector to Inspects and tests subassemblies and top-level devices to determine conformance to defined requirements. Maintains inspection through-put to meet delivery requirements. Assists Quality Control (QC) supervisor and foreman with operational details of department. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. This position is an onsite role located in San Diego, CA
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees department operation for short periods in the absence of the Quality Control supervisor and foreman.
- Defines critical inspection requirements for subassemblies and top-level devices.
- Creates inspection templates using defined critical inspection criteria.
- Pilots and redlines new test instructions.
- Writes material inspection dispositions, when necessary, to reject non-conforming material that fails to meet specification requirements and that must be dispositioned use as is (UAI) for sales orders.
- Adds appropriate failure identification codes to non-conforming dispositions.
- Carries material inspection dispositions through the approval process, scans the approvals into the database and forwards information to people down line so that material will move through the system in a documented fashion.
- Communicates complete ideas in written and verbal form so that others will understand what is needed to resolve rejections.
- Prioritizes inspection and testing of subassemblies and top-level devices for daily requirements. Then either conducts the work or assigns to an Inspector B or C as necessary.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the QC supervisor, foreman or manager.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Two-year college degree, or equivalent training, in related field plus a minimum of four years’ experience in a direct quality role and one year of experience as a lead quality person. Drawing comprehension and use of measuring tool experience is required.
Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel to create written documents and spreadsheets. Must have basic math and basic statistics knowledge. Must have experience using company business system software. Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly during workday. Able to bend, kneel and stand repeatedly during workday.20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 and normal vision.
