Position Overview: Responsible for assuring quality products are produced and distributed through the control of raw materials, production processes and sub-suppliers. Coordinates execution of inspection testing. Supports the business through assurance of standard production and business processes, FMEAs and Production Control Plans.

Direct Reports: One Quality Engineer and two Quality Technicians.

Dimensions of Position: The Quality Manager has responsibility for all quality initiatives at the Cleveland production site.

Key Result Areas:

·         Process improvement leader for activities and measurement.

·         Advanced Product Quality Planning leader

·         Process and product capability, identify and actively support activities to improve key process performance indicators.

·         Customer and supplier contact on corrective actions and improvements.

·         Directs SPC and quality efforts.

·         Supports marketing and sales in customer product problem solving and projects.

·         Provides problem solving expertise and 6-sigma project support.

·         Ensures that quality system requirements are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with ISO 9001

·         Manages internal quality audit program. Initiates plant internal/external quality, environmental and safety audits

·         Manage and monitor required testing, including training the hourly workforce for product testing and inspection.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical.

 Experience:

7-10 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing organization.

 Knowledge:

·         Significant knowledge of ISO 9001 compliant quality systems, automotive quality requirements, lean tools and Six Sigma (ASQ CQE or Six Sigma Blackbelt is a plus).

·         Working knowledge of phenolic chemistry is a plus.

·         Working knowledge of technical competencies in the processed of vacuum forming, rheology, drying, knowledge of fuels.

·         Excellent problem-solving ability.

  • Teamwork, leadership, and communication skills required.
  • Minitab and Access are beneficial.

·         Strong Computer applications

·         Ability to deal with employees at all levels within the organization.

·         Safe work attitude

Problem Solving & Complexity:

With engineering, this position is responsible for the continuous improvement activities within our manufacturing processes as well as assuring quality products are being produced for our customers.  Problem solving ability is paramount to this position.
