Are you an experienced Quality Assurance Technician/Engineer looking for a new challenge and/or to broaden your existing experience? If so, our client based in Oakham, Rutland is seeking an additional team member.

Job Purpose

The primary role and responsibility of the Quality Technician is to ensure products and materials meet the required specifications, and to prevent quality escapes.

To provide competent support to the Head of QHSE in all areas of the business on Quality matters by ensuring products and components meet the required Quality standards, and company policies and procedures are followed as required.

Actively influence and encourage an atmosphere of engagement, ownership, responsibility and flexibility to ensure the business is successful and it is a place people want to work.

Requirements

The role will encompass the compliance of the following standards of the business, both internal and external requirements, including but not limited to

  • ISO9001
  • UL Approval (as applicable)
  • Internal QMS Policies & Procedures

Key Accountabilities, Roles And Responsibilities

Quality – Effective Manage, Control & Carry Out:

  • Day to Day Production Operations
  • Non-Conforming Product & Materials (NCR)
  • Ensure Product & Materials are quarantined to prevent inadvertent use
  • Production and Non-conforming Scrap
  • Precision Measurements of component parts using the ROMA and other calibrated precision measuring devices (Micrometer/Vernier/DTI etc.)
  • Conduct First Article Inspections on new suppliers/components
  • Conduct sample Goods Inwards checks
  • Provide measurements to match Shaft/Laminations
  • Carry out Calibration Checks on Torque Tightening & Crimping Tools
  • Conduct Crimp Pull-Off Checks
  • Carry out quality checks on new projects
  • Conduct Weekly GEL Checks of Resin
  • Carry out duties commensurate with Deputies where applicable the QHSE Coordinator
  • Administration of management systems deployed in the business
  • Inspect completed products prior to dispatch (as required – CAT/JCB/Powervamp etc.)
  • Willingly to complete training course required to meet the roles and responsibilities of the job

Essential Skills And Experience For Overall Role

  • Previous experience in a QHSE role
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001
  • Knowledge of various QA tools and techniques
  • Use of precision measuring equipment

General

  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to deliver work to set targets and specified standards
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)

  • Electro-mechanical manufacturing environment

Hours Of Work

Our production operations operate across the hours of 0545-2000hrs currently, Monday to Friday. Employees work contractual basis of 40 hours per week. Some flexibility with start/finish time may be possible and flexibility may be required by candidate on on occasion to meet needs of production teams and wider departments.

Salary And Benefits

  • Salary upto £35,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
  • upto 7% annual profitability bonus scheme (discretionary)
  • 20 days holiday (increasing with service to max of 25 days) plus Public Holidays
  • 4 x salary death in service benefit (eligible after 3 months service)
