The Company
A global mining operator who has a portfolio of resources projects in Australia. As a result of a new project going into construction in early 2025 and aiming for a full operational phase by late 2026, we are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to take on this challenge.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of project costs, from initial estimates through to final accounts. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, you will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Your Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction and mining projects.
- Tendering & Procurement: Assist with the tender process, including the preparation and evaluation of tenders, and managing supplier contracts.
- Cost Control & Monitoring: Track and report on project costs, identifying and managing any variances.
- Contract Management: Administer contracts, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to costs, time, and resources and develop mitigation strategies.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on cost forecasts, variations, and financial status of projects.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to resolve any cost-related issues.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within the construction or mining sectors.
- Strong knowledge of construction and mining processes, cost estimation techniques, and procurement procedures.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- A professional certification (e.g., MRICS) is a plus but not required.
