We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our client, a reputable and well-established building contractor in Cardiff. Key Responsibilities



As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and contractual success of projects. Your duties will include:



Cost Management:



Preparing detailed cost plans and estimates for projects.



Monitoring and controlling project budgets to ensure they are completed within agreed financial parameters.



Procurement:



Sourcing, negotiating, and managing subcontracts and suppliers.



Ensuring value for money while maintaining the highest standards of quality.



Contract Management:



Administering contracts, including NEC, JCT, or bespoke agreements.



Managing variations, extensions of time, and claims.



Reporting and Analysis:



Preparing regular project cost reports, forecasts, and financial reconciliations.



Providing timely financial advice to project teams and stakeholders.



Collaboration and Communication:



Working closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to ensure smooth delivery.



Building and maintaining strong client relationships.



Risk Management:



Identifying and mitigating risks related to project costs and schedules.



Candidate Profile



To be successful in this role, you will need:



A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.



A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with building contractors, ideally managing projects valued between £5m and £10m.



Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.



Proficiency in contract administration and an understanding of standard forms of contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).



Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.



Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.



Proficiency in relevant software, such as MS Excel and cost management tools.



Membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS or CIOB) is advantageous but not essential.
