Regional Operations Manager - East Coast

Overview:

The Regional Operations Manager will oversee assigned warehouse operations and will be responsible for leading and managing daily operations to achieve business goals and maximize profitability. Duties will include managing warehouse Office Managers, setting performance objectives, evaluating and optimizing operational performance, ensuring regulatory and company standards are upheld and preparing operational reports.

A. Operational Management related responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Provide leadership to all Nationwide Warehouse locations to ensure operational efficiency, consistency, adherence to deadlines and company regulations, and compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
  2. Collaborates with Office Managers to develop organizational goals for each location, monitors progress toward those goals, and develops strategies to attract and retain team members.
  3. Identifies opportunities for operational improvement; designs and implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity and morale.
  4. Schedules and directs regular team meetings and events to share information, set and revise goals, and to increase morale.
  5. Develop and recommend annual budget requirements for the warehouse, future personnel requirements, and future material handling equipment.
  6. Internal dissemination of relevant information concerning any of the above, as needed.
  7. Responsibility for any Ad hoc projects as initiated by the Director of Operations or the President.
  8. Work in collaboration with Human Resources and Director of Operations to determine appropriate levels of manpower and resource planning, succession planning, and plans for employee technical and professional development.

B. Interpersonal Management responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Consults with management on performance, organizational and leadership matters.
  2. Conducts needs assessments to determine measures required to enhance employee job performance and overall company performance.
  3. Enforcing company Handbook, policies, and procedures.
  4. Interviewing and hiring personnel.
  5. Training new employees.
  6. Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  7. Establishing goals to align with overall business objectives.
  8. Appraising employee performance and providing feedback.
  9. Rewarding and disciplining employees.
  10. Address inter and intra departmental complaints and resolving problems.

 

Technical Competencies:

  • Leadership Skills:
    • Keep employees motivated, resolve conflicts and make difficult decisions as needed. A successful Operations Manager is a strong leader.
  • Time Management:
    • Collaborate with multiple managers across a large region, coordinating visits with these locations and provide necessary support. The Operations Manager will have multiple administrative duties. Time management is essential to make sure everything gets done.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Operations Manager is in charge of hiring new Office Managers and being a good judge of character will help ensure that you hire the right people to maintain an efficient and motivated team. You will also need analytical skills to be able to solve problems that may come up during a typical workday.
  • Decision-Making Skills:
    • The buck stops with you. Whether it is dealing with employees, management or vendors, you will have to make decisions that affect the company. Having the ability to make hard and fast decisions is crucial to your success.
  • Speaking and Writing:
    • The Operations Manager does a lot of communicating. This might be in front of a group of employees, or in a meeting with management. You might be called upon to write reports, recommendations, or reasons for termination. Great verbal communications and writing skills will help you in any of these scenarios.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises Office Managers at the 8 Nationwide warehouse locations.

 

Work Environment:

Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and warehouse environments and is regularly exposed to heavy machinery and noise.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and required standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of office operation are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work are required as job duties demand.

 

Travel:

Travel will be required as directed by the needs of the multiple Nationwide locations which would include out-of-area and overnight travel.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of management and leadership experience in a rental and/or industrial setting.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in operations management, project management, and understanding of industry trends.
  • Associate’s Degree or industry related Certification.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in A/V rental industry or related field.
  • 5+ years of management and leadership experience in a rental and/or industrial setting.
  • 5+years of experience in operations management, project management, and understanding of industry trends.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field.
