We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing compliance initiatives, developing internal policies, performing risk assessments, and staying ahead of regulatory changes. Your leadership will help ensure that all departments comply with applicable laws, including the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), TCPA, FDCPA, and CFPB regulations.

 

Position Summary

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is responsible for the comprehensive leadership of all related initiatives and department requirements. This includes the development and implementation of internal company policies as well as external guidelines, risk analysis for regulatory compliance, continuous adherence to State and Federal regulations, and expert knowledge and guidance on state registration and licensing requirements

 

Essential Functions

  • Leads and Researches all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
  • The Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR)
  • The Telephone Consumer Protection Act Policy (TCPA)
  • The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
  • The Unfair, Deceptive or Abusive Acts or Practices Act (UDAAP)
  • The Consumers Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
  • All applicable requirements are imposed by the bar associations in states in which we have associate attorneys.
  • Monitors the regulatory landscape to ensure the organization is aware of all new regulations, changes or legal decisions that may impact the business.
  • Assess and conduct risk assessments to identify potential issues related to licensing, registrations, marketing, or data handling
  • Develop and implement Compliance policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements
  • Perform routine audits of departmental compliance procedures including communications and data security, prepare and present audit report to top management
  • Ensure that department managers are aware of the regulations affecting their operations and have the training and tools necessary to perform compliantly.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation and reports on compliance activities, regulatory updates, audits, and assessments
  • Leadership and coaching of compliance team members including monitoring assignments, feedback, training, cross communications, and continuous development.

 

Required Competencies

  • In depth knowledge of US federal and State regulations - debt settlement industry specific, including consumer protection laws and state specific licensing requirements.
  • Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, documents, and other data.
  • Must be a proactive self-starter and possess a high degree of initiative.
  • Proficiency in compliance management systems, MS office, and data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-up.

 

Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Regulatory Compliance or IAPDA)
  • Experience with CRM’s (preferably Forth, Debt Pay Pro)
  • 3 – 5 years compliance experience

 

Position Type

The position is full-time, with 8 hours per day shifts. Office hours are generally Monday through Friday with varying shifts between the hours of 7am to 6pmPST. Though not routine, the weekend or additional hours may be required as needed.

 

Travel

This position may require minimal travel.

 

Other Duties

The Regulatory Compliance Manager may be asked to assume other duties not listed in this job description as business needs demand.

 

Compensation Information

The salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $160,000 annually. Salary offers are determined by role, experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, compensation may vary based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
