Position Summary: The Regulatory Specialist will ensure compliance with Safety Data Sheets, Technical Data Sheets, and Labeling for the company’s raw materials and 300+ specialized oil, grease, lubricant, fuel additive, crop enhancement and surfactant products. Partner with the Chief Chemist for EPA, REACh and other environmental compliance duties.
Responsibilities:
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS) – Based on current and new regulations, manually author or update SDS for company products, incorporating SDS’s from supplier companies into finished SDS. Manage process from start to finish. Regulating agencies for company products mainly include OSHA/GHS, DOT, EPA, and California Prop. 65/CARB and OTC-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). Obtain, manage, and enter Raw Material SDS to employ new WERCS eLITE SDS software.
- Technical Data Sheets (TDS) – Write or update TDSs to relay information on product testing/performance, suggested applications and specifications.
- Labeling – Create/Maintain/Update Global Harmonize System (GHS) master labels for all company products, maintaining compliance while working with Production and Marketing for size constraints.
- Environmental & Regulatory Compliance – Ensure TSCA and EU/UK/Turkey REACh compliance. Assist with SARA Title II reporting.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: 20 hours of college level Chemistry and 2 years of regulatory compliance for a chemical based manufacturer, especially with SDS management/authoring, GHS/OSHA and DOT regulations, or a combination of related course work and experience.
- PC-based computer skills: include Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Pro.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of DOT, EPA, GHS and other standards and their application in an ever evolving regulatory environment.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw accurate conclusions.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in creating and maintaining product database of SDS, TDS, GHS labels and other documents.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to compose clear and concise technical writing.
