Renewables PR Account Executive

Salary: Competitive


Hours: Full-time 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday


Location: We have offices in Ipswich and London, operating a hybrid and flexible home/office working pattern, with a team in Scotland too. Our ideal candidate would be a remote role, based in Scotland to strengthen our presence in the country. However, we warmly welcome applications from account managers across the UK with a passion for and experience in renewable energy PR.

Job purpose: To carry out most of the day to day account execution and administration, reporting to a Senior Account Executive or Account Manager as appropriate. To be a capable and confident operator who has good understanding of the required basic media and communication skills and to be aware of the tools available to create the required media coverage in all PR areas. To carry out all support tasks as directed to execute the strategies and activities as detailed by the line manager and ensure that the accounts worked on are well organised in terms of time and filing.


Role skill requirements:


Monitoring

  • Be fully responsible for monitoring and mounting coverage, updating coverage logs and providing media reports
  • Highlighting forward feature opportunities to the team on a weekly basis – make suggestions on what could be put forward to the client
  • Monitor all relevant media for your clients and highlight coverage and client opportunities
  • Monitor all client social media sites and highlight relevant insight to the team


Written Work

  • Writing coherent and factually accurate press releases that require minimal amends from seniors and clients
  • Ability to draft digital copy including blogs, e-newsletter and short form social media copy requirements that only require minimal amends
  • Identifying publicity opportunities as directed
  • Producing copy for client and internal requirements as directed, eg e-newsletters and blogs
  • Competent in all written communications, such as letters, emails etc., both internally and externally to clients and journalists


Media & Events Skills

  • A growing understanding of how the media works in the areas in which you operate – the opportunities available, starting to build relationships with journalists etc.
  •  Fully managing the process of press release distribution
  • Helping to sell items in to media as directed
  • Understanding and running programmes of media promotional activity, such as influencer partnerships, competitions, sampling offers, free for every reader offers etc.
  • Proactively looking for opportunities, working alongside managers
  • Confident in making verbal approaches to all journalists – consumer, business-to-business and trade – to sell in ideas and discuss opportunities
  • Assist in the organisation of events ranging from workshops, photo calls, press conferences, webinars, stakeholder consultations, training days etc. on behalf of clients. Includes event set up, attendance and breakdown.


Meetings

  • To actively participate in meetings, helping in preparing for the meeting and in presenting elements as directed
  • Participating in presentations to existing clients and at new business pitches


General Skills

  • A good understanding and knowledge of the renewable energy industry
  • Play a part in new business brainstorms and an active role in new business targeting
  • Liaise with clients at a junior level in a confident manner and build good working relationships
  • Undertake media and administration desk research for new business pitches and current client programmes as required
  • Build your understanding of the design process and assist in briefing designers
  • Flexibility – capable of juggling more than one task/client at the time and prioritising work load accordingly
  • To handle all administration for accounts including filing, press cuttings etc. to ensure the smooth running of the business
  • Work as an effective member of a team, as well as the overall organisation
  • Proof read all written material
  • Develop useful and relevant business contacts
  • Become capable of briefing all suppliers such as designers, photographers, printers in a knowledgeable and precise manner.
  • Have a full, clean driving licence and be able to travel to client events as required
