Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.The project “Nuclear Justice and Gender in the South Pacific” is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and aims to conduct in-depth socio-ecological research on the interactions of the impacts of nuclear weapon tests and climate change in the South Pacific with a focus on environmental (in)justice and gender. In addition to generating scientific knowledge, the project seeks to develop conceptual guidelines for gender-transformative support of affected regions and people, as well as to establish institutional scientific partnerships in the study region.Your duties include independent research within the thematic and regional scope of the project. Academic qualification through the preparation of a dissertation is strongly desired. Further tasks include assisting in the organization of project-specific events, the publication and presentation of research results in the scientific community, and the establishment of scientific partnerships in the study region.Your profileA university degree in a relevant field.For the two open positions, we particularly welcome applications from early career researchers with strong regional and/or thematic connections to the South Pacific who have the capacity and motivation for extended research stays in the study region. Ideally, you have a Master’s degree in human geography, sociology, social anthropology, environmental science, gender studies, peace and conflict studies, political science, or related disciplines.
