About IPinfo

IPinfo is a leading provider of IP address data, including geolocation, VPN detection, mobile carrier and over 20 other context tags. Our API handles over 100 billion requests a month, and we also license our data for use in many products and services you might have used. We're a fast growing bootstrapped business with a global team of around 40 people, and offer data products including IP geolocation, IP to company, carrier detection, and VPN detection. Our customers include T-Mobile, SpaceX, DemandBase, Clearbit, and many more. We also sponsor academic conferences such as ACM IMC and ACM CoNEXT to connect with fellow researchers.

How We Work

We have a small and ambitious team, spread all over the globe. We sync up on a monthly all-hands Zoom call, and most teams do a call together every 2 weeks. Everything else happens asynchronously, via Slack, GitHub, Linear, and Notion. That means you can pick the hours that work best for you, to allow you to be at your most productive.

Work within the research team to extract deep knowledge from our data, collaborate with fellow researchers on academic research papers, and discuss ideas at academic Internet measurement conferences.

To thrive in this environment you'll need to have high levels of autonomy and ownership. You have to be resourceful and able to work effectively in a remote setup.

Responsibilities

We collect more than 20TB of Internet data every week, including BGP, DNS, ping and traceroute data from more than 700 servers around the world. Our research team is at the forefront of analyzing and evaluating this data to ensure it finds its way into our producs - IP geolocation, VPN detection, our IP tags and more. In this role you will be analyzing that data, collaborate with fellow researchers from universities and research institutes, write academic papers and reports based on your analyses, implement measurement and analysis techniques from cutting-edge research, and discuss your findings at academic conferences.
