Researcher Simulation of hydrogen leaks
Researcher Simulation of hydrogen leaksEnd-UseSimulation of hydrogen leaksHyLab’s final goal is to create a worldwide reference Research, Development and Innovation (R&D+I) cluster with a strategic agenda focused on strengthening hydrogen competitiveness and creation of new products and services. Moreover, the HyLab will foster innovation, addressing the relevant supply chain components to enable a hydrogen-driven economy and to promote skilled and value-added job creation. It targets a gap between the academia and industrial ecosystems in the implementation of green hydrogen to boost the energy transition and to tackle the energy transition challenges, through the entire hydrogen value chain. The HyLab involves valuable national and international R&D institutes, academia, industry companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, and hydrogen-related technology manufacturing industries. We are looking for a Researcher Simulation of hydrogen leaks who will report to the Lead Research on Risk and will have the mission to Development of applied research and innovation activities in Safety and Risk Assessment of Hydrogen, namely on the simulation of hydrogen leaks in different scenarios to define the best strategies to promote the safe use of hydrogen throughout the value chain. You will be challenged with:Develop and implement simulations of hydrogen leaks using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) across various scenarios, such as pipelines and confined spaces.Collaborate on R&D projects, particularly those aligned with the Mobilizing Agendas of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, focusing on Safety and Risk Assessment.Cooperate with project partners to ensure the successful delivery of technical work and the preparation of related project reports.Provide specialized services to industry partners.Participate in activities to disseminate scientific knowledge through writing scientific articles, conference papers, and presentations.Who are we looking for:A master’s degree in engineering, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, Energy Management, Process Safety, or a related field.Experience in simulating gas leaks in various scenarios.Proficiency in Ansys Fluent or OpenFOAM for computational fluid dynamics simulations.Strong programming skills in Python, C++, MATLAB, or COMSOL are preferred. Why join us:You will be challenged with unusual problems and will have the opportunity to uncover solutions with a high environmental impact. You will be working in an innovation environment, together with some of the most knowledgeable researchers in Europe. You will have a career as a Researcher in one of the most promising technologies in the energy industry. You will have the opportunity to definitively move to Sines, Portugal, or to work thereat least for 3 days per week on the brand new HyLab headquarters. Your talent will be rewarded with a competitive salary package.
