 Job SummaryReservoir Engineering Technician will assist engineers in the evaluation, development, and management of oil and gas reservoirs. This role involves data collection, analysis, and technical support to optimize reservoir performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role supports the ongoing reservoir engineering operations, ensuring optimal asset development, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. This role involves technical data analysis, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with engineers and field staff to enhance oil and gas production efficiency.
 Essential Functions

  • Works closely with a reservoir engineer and on all tasks related to optimizing asset development
  • Reserves support – building, running, and quality control (QC) of ARIES databases with guidance from senior reserves technician
  • Planning support – building, running, and QC of Enersight projects with guidance from director or reservoir engineer
  • Construct and maintain databases used for analysis of production, expense, revenue, etc.
  • Prepare analyses using data analysis tools like Excel and Spotfire
  • Organize and present analyses and data outputs in graphical and presentation form
  • Acquisition evaluations – build ARIES databases, gather and verify data, run preliminary economic analysis and metrics
  • Tracks non-op well status, capital spend and reviews and updates monthly accruals for capital and expenses
  • Compiles data, builds and maintains databases to support to reservoir engineer in annual type curve review process
  • Utilize ARIES to generate AFEs and supporting documentation
  • General support for reservoir engineering staff
  • Collect, organize, and analyze reservoir data, including pressure, production rates, and fluid properties.
  • Support reservoir engineers in creating models for reservoir simulation and forecasting.
  • Maintain databases for well logs, production data, and reservoir performance metrics.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation.
  • Monitor reservoir performance to identify opportunities for enhanced recovery or operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with geologists, drilling teams, and production engineers to integrate data for comprehensive reservoir analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and company policies during all phases of reservoir management

 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skill set, with a curiosity to keep learning
  • Ability to compile and present data clearly using the best available tools
  • Proficiency in Excel required, exposure to database tools (Access, SQL) strongly
  • Programming background and aptitude (experience or education) strongly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with AutoCAD or ArcGIS is advantageous.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and travel to remote sites as needed

 Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering Technology, Geology or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in oil and gas operations and reservoir engineering support .
