Summary of Responsibilities

As a Residential Architect, you'll be a key player in transforming client visions into exceptional designs. You'll collaborate closely with clients, contractors, and design teams, ensuring every project is completed with creativity, precision, and on schedule. You will bring client visions to life by designing innovative, functional, and visually stunning single-family homes, including remodels and custom builds. You'll oversee every stage of the architectural process, blending creativity and technical expertise to deliver exceptional results. Working closely with clients, contractors, and design teams, you'll create detailed construction documents, navigate permitting processes, and address design challenges to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. This role is perfect for a proactive, solution-driven architect with a passion for design, strong communication skills, and a collaborative mindset, dedicated to seamlessly integrating architecture, design, and construction into remarkable residential projects.

Essential Functions

  • Develop innovative, high-quality design concepts and detailed architectural plans for single-family residential projects, including remodels and custom builds
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budgets, aligning designs with project goals
  • Lead client presentations and design reviews, integrating feedback to ensure the final product exceeds expectations. Build strong client relationships that foster trust and collaboration throughout the design process
  • Manage all phases of projects, from concept through completion, including site analysis, design development, and final approval
  • Produce and review accurate construction documents, schematics, and specifications
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineers, trades, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of designs
  • Ensure compliance with local zoning regulations, building codes, and industry standards
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring they adhere to schedules, budgets, and quality standards
  • Monitor job sites to verify compliance with designs and ensure quality construction
  • Manage permit documentation, procurement processes, and third-party consultant coordination
  • Resolve complex design challenges with practical, innovative solutions
  • Stay current with architectural trends, building materials, and advancements through research and vendor meetings
  • Provide leadership and direction to design and drafting teams
  • Support project development by presenting designs, feasibility assessments, pricing, and scheduling guidance

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Architecture required; Master's Degree
  • Licensure: Licensed architect in the state of California . Candidates actively working toward licensure will be considered
  • Experience: 5+ years of residential architectural design experience (high-end and remodel experience is a plus) Open to candidates with 10-15 years of residential design experience who hold a degree in architecture and are pursuing licensure
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, Chief Architect
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural systems, residential construction techniques, and building codes
  • Regulatory Experience: Experience with building permit approvals and collaboration with code officials

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
  • Work Environment: Full-time, in-office role (Monday through Friday)

Salary & Compensation

  • $90K - $140K, depending on experience
  • Simple IRA with employer match
