Position Summary
The Residential HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of residential heating and cooling systems. This role is critical in delivering the exceptional customer experience Charlotte Mechanical is known for. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with HVAC systems, excellent diagnostic skills, and a professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair services on a variety of residential HVAC systems in accordance with company procedures and safety guidelines
- Accurately diagnose system malfunctions and recommend appropriate solutions, including repair or replacement
- Communicate findings and service options clearly and professionally to homeowners
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes and regulations
- Maintain accurate service documentation, including work orders, time logs, and material usage
- Collaborate with dispatch and fellow technicians to ensure seamless workflow and customer satisfaction
- Uphold company standards for cleanliness, professionalism, and equipment care
- Participate in ongoing training and development initiatives to maintain current industry knowledge
Requirements:
QualificationsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean, insurable driving record
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential HVAC service
- Universal EPA Certification (Type II minimum)
- Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams and schematics
- Solid understanding of HVAC theory, air balancing principles, and modern diagnostic methods
- Personal hand tools suitable for HVAC service work
- Ability to pass pre-employment background and drug screening

- Experience with smart home climate systems and digital controls
Work Schedule
- Full-time: Monday through Friday
- Must be available for overtime, weekends, and on-call rotation as scheduled
