Safety and Compliance Manager

Safety & Compliance Manager Role -



As the Safety and Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the company's health, safety, environmental, and compliance programs. Your focus will be to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient operation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role is key in driving regulatory adherence, risk management, and a culture of safety across all operational activities.



Safety & Compliance Manager Responsibilities -



* Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all EfW operations comply with health and safety regulations, including identifying risks, conducting regular safety audits, and implementing corrective actions.



* Environmental Compliance: Oversee environmental performance to align with regulatory standards, emissions limits, waste disposal, and sustainability objectives.



* Regulatory Adherence: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and ensure company compliance with all relevant laws and permits.



* Risk Management: Lead risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies and emergency response plans.



* Training and Development: Design and deliver training programs to ensure that all employees understand and comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards.



* Incident Investigation: Manage and investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, providing detailed reports and implementing preventive measures.



* Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety and compliance activities, audits, and incidents, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.



* Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in safety and environmental practices, encouraging a proactive culture of risk awareness.



Safety & Compliance Manager Qualifications –



* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a health, safety, and compliance role, preferably within the energy-from-waste, power , or process plant industries.



* Certifications: NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Health and Safety. Familiarity with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 standards.



* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of EfW plant operations, emissions control, environmental impact assessment, and relevant HSE legislation.

* Salary – £55,000 - £65,000 DOE
