Safety Manager – Commercial Construction Interior GC – Base Salary to 100k/year – Pomona, CA
- Our client is a commercial construction interior GC that specializes in build outs and TIs for national chains. Projects range from remodel and refresh work to building out separate rooms within a business. Self performing in carpentry, electrical, and paint, they have been in business over 75 years, and have performed multi-site rollouts for clients as large as Target, Starbucks, Kohl’s, etc. They pride themselves on innovation, flexibility, and professionalism.
- In this role, the Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing the safety of work sites across the country. The Safety Manager will be responsible for enforcing compliance with regulations and reviewing health and safety guidelines to minimize injury and benefit the safety of the workers on site. This will involve frequent travel across the United States, meeting with high level Owners and Project Managers on site. The ideal candidate is an experienced, solution-oriented Construction Safety Manager who can drive positive leadership while spearheading new initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and conduct preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs
- Provide regular, on-site project presence, travel about 80-90%
- Work out of the office in Pomona when not on site
- Plan, implement, manage, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on premises or at project site locations
- Provide project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations
- Collaborate to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management
- Conduct safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments
- Maintain a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence
- Guarantee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and sound engineering practices
- Provide outcome assessment delivery to PMs
- Report the status of projects to business and market leaders
- Lead safety training meetings
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Construction Safety Manager experience in a commercial construction setting
- Ability to travel on site nationwide 80-90%
- Ability to work out of the office in Pomona 10-20%
- Knowledge of and commitment to upholding various state and agency safety standards
- Commercial construction experience in carpentry, electrical, paint, etc.
- Professional client management and ability to interface with high level executives
- OSHA and CPR certification required. Equipment certifications such as aerial, boom, forklift etc. preferred
- Ability to work flexibly outside the 9am – 5pm schedule as the job necessitates
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test, including for THC
- Clean driving record
- Proficiency with Excel and construction management software
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 85k - 100k/year range, dependent on experience
