Safety Officer

The Safety Officer will be responsible for managing safety policies, procedures and programs. They will be responsible for leading a positive safety culture based on education, learning and compliance.

1.        Monitor company safety procedures, train employees and ensure that all associates are maintaining workplace safety.

2.       Initiate or recommend plans to motivate workers to ensure a positive safety culture is encouraged.

3.       Provide or recommend training and other staff development methods to improve safety culture.

4.      Perform site inspections and monitor work procedures in progress to ensure a safe work environment.

5.       Review OSHA inspections and manage citations/violations accordingly.

6.      Establish yourself as the main contact for OSHA/CONN OSHA.

7.       Investigate accidents and near misses and provide an evaluation and corrective actions for prevention.

8.       Provide guidance and recommendations on updating the company’s safety policies and procedures.

9.      Maintain up to date records of all employee training and potentially needed training.

10.   Provide monthly reports on safety training and overall project safety.

11.      Maintain and update (as needed) all safety related forms.

12.     Support project teams by:

1.        Reviewing and approving the site-specific safety plan developed by the project team.

2.       Reviewing and approving subcontractor’s specific written programs when requested.

3.       Providing support in holding workers accountable to safety requirements.

4.      Following up on written safety violations.

5.       Make recommendations on how to apply fair accountability to all subcontractors.

6.      Attend key pre-installation meetings.

Help the team navigate the subcontractor’s accountability requirements.
