Scope of Responsibility:

Assist the EHS Coordinator with implementation and administration of Safety and Security policies and procedures. To provide a visible safety presence within the plant production facilities conducting investigation and inspections to ensure our compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal safety policies, procedures, regulations and directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits and inspections related to OSHA compliance
  • Review incident reports, conduct investigations, follow-up on implementation
  • Provide technical safety support to trainers, supervisors, and production management
  • Teach various safety course topics required by corporate training plan and OSHA
  • Conduct periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and health standards and regulations
  • Investigate incidents and unsafe working conditions, compiling statistical data and providing remedial actions to achieve effective accident and loss prevention
  • Assist with the evaluation of safety problems and Team Member’s safety recommendations and complaints. Recommend corrective measures accordingly
  • Supports with the administration of fire protection/life safety systems
  • Assists the EHS Coordinator in emergency operations and training during normal facility operations and on a 24 hour on-call basis
  • Perform, with all required personal protective equipment, in various roles on emergency response teams
  • Assist in the development of effective Lockout/Tagout procedures, workplace hazard assessments and Pre-Job hazard assessments
  • Assist in the development of site-specific health and safety programs, policies and training to eliminate or control risk and ensure compliance
  • Ensures maintenance of emergency service response equipment
  • Must be able to work any shift

Education/Background/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, mechanical, or industrial engineering, or a related area, and/or a minimum of three (3) years safety related experience, preferably in the automotive industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Safety committee activities, incident investigation/problem solving, tool & equipment specification, fire and security experience will also be considered
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Office 365.
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge required:

  • The ability to comprehend, interpret and comply with policies, procedures, and operations in conducting day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Must personify the safety ethic in speech and actions.
