The Scientist (PO3) is a role in which you will:• Provide professional support to a senior scientist including assistance with meeting of project milestones and contract deliverables.• Undertake paddock-scale monitoring activities including:o instrumentation operation and maintenanceo field and laboratory procedures (e.g sampling methodologies, collection and processing of soil, water and plant samples)o analysis and interpretation of data (e.g water quality pollutant loads, soil processes, nutrient fluxes, pesticide degradation and movement)o processing, management and assessment of scientific datao maintenance of databases for the collection and storage of datao reporting and communication of results within a quality assurance framework.• Other duties as directed or required.We're looking for the best suited applicant for the role. We'll also consider your potential to make contributions to the department and how your engagement would support our commitment to equity, diversity, respect and inclusion.This position requires:• The ability to report on results of water quality and monitoring program data and have knowledge of quality assurance and quality control systems and procedures pertaining to scientific research and monitoring.• The ability to research and analyse information and make recommendations based on evidence.• Experience in identifying problems and possible solutions including technology, research, and comprehension and critical evaluation of relevant technical information and data.• Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritises multiple tasks to ensure delivery of project outputs in a timely manner.• Proven ability to communicate clearly, publish/produce materials and demonstrate strong liaison, negotiation and interpersonal skills.• The ability to operate both as an effective member of the team and independently as required to ensure that projects and objectives are met in an efficient and timely manner.• Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.Applications will remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/575784/24Closing Date: Wednesday, 17 July 2024
