Summary:

The Seat Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, release of seat heat, vent and comfort electromechanical systems.

 

Responsibilities will include:

· Definition of functional objectives, specifications, DFMEA, DVPR, standardization plan development.

· Interface with customer and internal departments and suppliers to design, develop and release.

· Creation of functional technical packages and cost targets with Supplier Cost Engineering and Purchasing to

· support sourcing strategy, timing, and sourcing of the components.

· Lead global internal and external resources in packaging, design, release, FEA, feasibility, Tool Kick-Offs, and

· full test validation through production process approvals.

· Lead suppliers through component and system validation via virtual FEA and DVPR testing, including defining

· and verifying system calibrations with the Controls and Electrical teams.

· Participate in design reviews, present issues, resolution plans and timing to Mgt.

· Utilize DFSS and Reactive Problem-Solving tools and processes to root cause and resolve issues supported

· with applicable data.

· Utilize the Change Management system to create and release CNs to document and coordinate timing for

· release of approved design changes.

· Interface with Supplier Operations to ensure Design supports production process and quality requirements.

· Support all vehicle pilot builds through launch including issues root cause, interim and permanent corrective

· actions.

· Support Quality to root cause and support all warranty and third-party issues.

 

Basic Qualifications:

· A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Materials

/Chemical/ Civil/ Aerospace/Computer/Computer Science or equivalent) from an ABET accredited or
equivalent program

· Minimum of three years of design/release experience in automotive components

· Experience in Electromechanical systems - hardware, software, electrical and controls

· Working knowledge of Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), PFMEA, Design Verification Plan &

· Report (DVP&R), CAE, GD&T and i-Speed

· Design and development experience in Teamcenter and NX

· Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point

· Ability to utilize statistics for problem analysis and performance confirmation

· Strong organizational, program management, leadership and communication skills required

· Result oriented, energetic self-starting leader with ability to direct cross-functional teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program

· Knowledge of CAN/LIN bus and experience with circuit analysis

· Experience developing Performance Standards

· Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) using proactive quality tools

· Knowledge of Shainin Red X using reactive quality tools

· Automotive assembly plant and/or program launch experience.
