Summary
The Intermediate Civil / Structural Designer is responsible for managing all aspects of civil
design for assigned projects and will provide support in the areas of planning, executing, and
delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications. Efficient
delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations
to stakeholders and upward reporting to project managers and/or managers are critical tasks
that must be performed throughout each project's lifecycle.
Job Duties
• Layout, model and detail drainage, earthwork, foundations, concrete and steel
structures with 3D design software (Revit, Advance Steel & Civil 3D)
• Draft and develop high quality civil/structural detailed drawings and layouts
• Ensure all drawings and materials are in accordance with specifications and
standards, including all applicable codes and regulations
• Reviewing project documents prior to issue for scope and presentation against
project standards and specifications
• Draft reinforced concrete foundations for buildings, horizontal vessels, vertical
vessels, etc.
• Produce detailed design drawings for structural steel for pipe supports, platforms,
equipment supports, etc.
• Effectively work in a multidiscipline environment with minimal supervision
• Field work and site measurements as required
Requirements – Job Specific
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting
Technology
• A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience as a Civil/Structural Designer
• In depth understanding of structural aspects of light to heavy industrial projects, and
an understanding of civil engineering design aspects of projects.
• Advance skills in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Underground services/grading required
• Experience in the oil and gas industry an asset, preferably in an EPCM or
Owner/Operator environment
• Effective communication skills, and have the ability to work independently and in a
multi-disciplinary team environment
• Site experience required
