Keeley Construction is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Construction Project Team as a Senior Project Accountant. This role will involve a variety of accounting, administrative, and support functions for ongoing projects and business operations. The ideal candidate will have a client-focused mindset, work well independently, and provide comprehensive project accounting support across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
· Communicate effectively with Project Managers and Principals regarding contract documents, change orders, approvals, and services related to billing and job-cost monitoring.
· Maintain up-to-date project cost information, in collaboration with the project team.
· Assist in the development and tracking of change orders through to completion.
· Prepare customer payment applications, including draft and final invoices, with all relevant backup for approval by the Project Manager.
· Collaborate with Project Managers and the project team regarding contract documents, change orders, approvals, and additional project costs.
· Review owner contracts to ensure accurate billing in line with contract terms and conditions.
· Review and maintain subcontract agreements and change orders.
· Lead the billing process and maintain regular cash flow updates.
· Enter and reconcile construction estimates and job costs.
· Track and manage waivers, affidavits, and collections in the billing folders for all projects, ensuring all documents are in order.
· Enter, review, and process expenses, consultant invoices, and monthly invoices according to established procedures.
· Monitor and ensure subcontractor insurance compliance through project completion.
· Perform general accounting tasks such as reviewing accounts receivable, following up on client delinquencies, and reporting to management.
· Collaborate with Project Managers to review and ensure proper issuance and execution of OCOs and COs.
· Recommend and implement process improvements as needed.
Required Skills & Knowledge
· Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in commercial construction accounting.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction billings and receivables.
· Self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete projects efficiently.
· Prior experience with Procore required.
· Sage 300 experience .
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook; advanced Excel skills required.
