Senior Controls Engineer
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur client is seeking a Direct Hire for an Senior Automation Engineer for its Wilmington, MA office. The position requires proven technical proficiency in implementing automation solutions using PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms, with a strong focus on leadership and project management.Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards independently or as a team leader.
- Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery.
- Develop control system architecture, select components, create schematic diagrams and system documentation, and program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU).
- Develop and implement HMI/SCADA systems and databases for historical data archiving and display.
- Design and implement industrial networking using protocols like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.
- Manage project execution plans, budgets, schedules, and project profitability up to $1M.
- Provide guidance to lower-level engineers and technicians.
- Oversee all aspects of automation projects in the Life Science industry, including testing, commissioning, and validation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 12+ years of process automation experience in the Life Sciences industry.
- Extensive experience with Batch S88 in small molecule fluid or powder facilities/companies.
- Experience with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and Inductive Automation’s Ignition.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements like cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5, and validation methodologies.
- Expertise in automation protocols such as HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, and Modbus TCP/IP.
- Knowledge of relational databases like SQL and Oracle.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Skills:
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and electrical schematics.
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform tasks that include driving, lifting, dexterity in hands, and mounting/dismounting equipment.
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with electrical schematics and NEC references.
- Experience in both liquid and powder facilities/companies in the Life Sciences sector.
