CT-19 have partnered with a growing surgical device company developing a novel platform of technologies designed to reduce costs, improve outcomes, & minimise risk in the complex but minimally invasive surgery markets. The Company is developing its first platform technology, a new visualisation platform for laparoscopic surgery. The Company's vision is to be the market leader in the research, engineering, design, development, & marketing of advanced visualisation devices, improving standardisation, safety, & surgical outcomes of minimally invasive surgical procedures.
The Company are seeking a Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for both developing new products, and iterating existing products that form part of the company’s laparoscopic visualisation platform, reporting into the Head of Research and Development.
Key Responsibilities
- Ideation of high-level design concepts that offer innovative solutions to difficult design challenges.
- Rapid prototyping of designs (in-house where possible).
- Hands-on testing of prototypes to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Developing designs from early-stage concepts to fully developed products.
- Report writing for technical file compilation.
- Individual programme planning and contributing to role-specific R&D planning.
- Working with management on managing and developing intellectual property.
- Working with corporate partners, as determined by the executive management.
Essential Requirements
- Hold a first or upper second-class degree in a relevant subject such as mechanical or biomedical engineering, or industrial design.
- Demonstrable experience with highly creative problem solving.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of medical device design, working within an ISO13485 environment, and preparing associated design control and verification & validation documentation.
Desirable Skills & Abilities
- Excellent/advanced CAD/CAM skills (SolidWorks preferred).
- Demonstrable experience with physical prototyping and development testing.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints.
- Experience with designing moulded components; ideally including basic mould flow analysis experience.
- Demonstrable experience with project planning and time management.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, particularly when communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to self-motivate when working independently; prioritise tasks, and work effectively to manage and meet deadlines.
- Ability to learn new skills quickly and work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent report writing skills, and experience of MS Office.
- A basic knowledge of clinical and/or biomedical engineering.
