Senior Ecologist
Job Description
We are seeking a qualified and ambitious Senior Ecologist to deliver top-tier ecological services to our clients across various sectors.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLiaise with clients, attend site meetings, and produce quotations.\nDesign and specify surveys and projects.\nSupervise and undertake field survey work.\nWrite and supervise reports for ecological consultancy work.\nComplete Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and strategies.\nCollaborate on joint projects and support operational teams.\nManage a team of Ecologists and Assistants.\nAppoint and manage seasonal Field Ecologists. \n\nCore Skills and Requirements:\n\nDegree in ecology or related subject.\nMinimum 5 years of professional ecological experience.\nKnowledge of UK and European legislation on protected species and habitats.\nExperience in ecological appraisals, impact assessments, HRAs, and SSSI consents.\nStrong field surveyor skills and protected species survey licences.\nProven experience in line managing staff.\nFull membership of CIEEM.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS.\nExcellent project management skills.\nFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel. \n\nDesirable Skills / Qualifications:\n\nChartered Ecologist or Environmentalist.\nMaster's degree in a related subject.\nAdditional survey licences.\nExperience as an expert witness at planning inquiries.\nProficiency in specialist software.\nTree Climbing & Aerial Tree Rescue qualification.
\n\nWorking Hours:\n\nStandard hours are 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility.
