Responsible for the specification and technical delivery of electrical engineering aspects of ScottishPower Renewable’s (SPR) onshore Renewables projects, you will ensure projects are technically specified and delivered through development, planning application, tendering, design, construction and commissioning phases. This will also include Grid Application and all system design to ensure compliance with project requirements.

Projects will consist of Wind , Solar PV, Energy Storage systems and additional new technologies.

What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day aspects of electrical engineering design and delivery.

Leading on technical delivery, you will ensure that technical delivery and coordination between all internal and external third parties is maintained, designed and carried out in line with ScottishPower Renewables specifications, rules and company standards.

Assisting the Lead Electrical Engineer with resource management, you will ensure the effective deployment of electrical engineering to support the delivery of the project programme is optimised.

You will focus primarily on the specification and design of the HV Electrical Infrastructure on new sites and for the re-powering of existing assets. Creating electrical equipment ordering specifications from conceptual design through to detail design, you will ensure the placement of orders and the coordination of the technical flow of information to the requirements and timescales of the Project Managers. You will support project teams with the management of the process for obtaining new grid connections, from initial application through to commissioning and testing.

Additionally, this role will provide and review of design proposals, management and supervision of consultants and subcontractors, user requirements definition of balance of plant control systems, infrastructure and their interfaces.

As you will be working as part of the Onshore Projects and Construction Team, there may be periods where you are site based during the construction phase of projects within the UK.

What you’ll bring

Educated to degree standard in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, you will possess significant experience in Grid connection and Electrical Design. IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software, you will possess a full driving licence and be prepared to work away from base office location as and when required. Chartered membership of the IEE is advantageous.
