Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Summary:

Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to support rack-level ground support equipment (EGSE) electrical engineering for the Orion spacecraft program. This role requires expertise in network systems, telemetry processing, and configuration of network hardware components to support vehicle telemetry data. The selected candidate will work with electronic components, digital and analog circuitry, vendor-supplied or custom-designed card sets, COTS/MOTS computers, processors, inter-processors, network switches, firewalls, wiring, cable connections, and data interfaces. Consideration for a subsystem lead position will be evaluated for qualified applicants.

Candidates at this level should be considered intermediate in electrical engineering practices and processes, with at least 5+ years of experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform rack-level ground support equipment (EGSE) electrical engineering for various electronic components and network systems.
  • Implement or update network hardware configurations to support vehicle telemetry processing.
  • Design, develop, and check electrical engineering drawings using Creo Parametric and/or Zuken applications.
  • Support rack assembly, EGSE manufacturing, and final assembly.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FFMEA) for system reliability.
  • Develop and maintain electrical design documentation, including operations and maintenance of hardware equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and network processing configurations.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical design standards such as EMS200.
  • Perform rack tip analysis and hardware component calibration.
  • Work with Windchill (EPDM) for engineering configuration management and version control.
  • Provide technical oversight and support for EGSE RSE management.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ground power systems.
  • Develop and maintain software tools and automation scripts in NI LabVIEW and other software development platforms.
  • Utilize Windows and/or RedHat OS for network system configurations.
  • Assist in training and mentoring on analog and digital design, potentially serving as an instructor.
  • Travel as required to support testing, integration, and engineering efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, network systems, and ground support equipment design.
  • Experience with network processing, telemetry processing, and configuration of network hardware components.
  • Proficiency in electrical drawing creation, checking, and documentation using Creo Parametric/Zuken.
  • Strong knowledge of rack assembly, EGSE manufacturing, and final assembly processes.
  • Experience working with telemetry COTS systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of EGSE hardware.
  • Working knowledge of Windchill (EPDM) and EMS200 electrical design standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with L-Code and EGSE RSE management.
  • Coursework or experience in schematic capture using Zuken or similar tools.
  • Background in mechanical drawing checking and integration.
  • Experience with software development, maintenance, and automation using NI LabVIEW.
  • Instructor-level experience in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for program needs.
  • Self-starter with a team-oriented mindset and problem-solving skills.

About the Orion Program:

NASA’s Orion spacecraft is designed to take humans deep into space, beyond the Moon and toward Mars. Orion incorporates cutting-edge life support, navigation, communications, and radiation shielding technology to support long-duration human spaceflight. Lockheed Martin, as the prime contractor, is in the production phase for six Orion spacecraft missions, with the potential to build up to 12 total missions. The Artemis III mission will mark a historic milestone, carrying the first woman and the next man to the Moon’s surface, reinforcing Orion’s critical role in the Artemis program and deep space exploration.
