Position Description:


As the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:





Complete board-level hardware design and schematic capture





Tackle challenging design problems, take ownership of products, and ensure designs align with Applied Medical’s technical specifications and goals





Participate in all aspects of product development, including design, prototyping, development, testing, and manufacturing





Handle both analog and digital board-level designs, including field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs), digital-to-analog converters (DACs), random access memory (RAM), power supplies, peripherals, analog radio frequency (RF) front ends, and embedded systems





Perform research as required to define, specify, and develop products





Oversee the product development process from concept through manufacturing and release





Facilitate support required from Research and Development, Manufacturing, Product Marketing, and other teams to ensure successful development and timely product release





Share technical knowledge and advise others on electrical engineering technologies and circuit design





Lead team to develop product documentation                                                                                                                                                            





Front-end Motor Control Design:





Create high bandwidth control of position, torque, and speed for motor drive systems.





Optimize energy efficiency using real-time control techniques.





Implement safety functions compliant with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849.





Advanced Firmware Design using Verilong





Develop complex digital designs for ASICs and programmable logic.





Apply Verilog HDL constructs from basic concepts to advanced constructs.





Collaborate on ASIC library design concepts.





Position Requirements:


This position requires the following skills and attributes:





Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering





Minimum of three years’ experience in analog, digital, and mixed-signal design with proven experience in frequency-domain, time-domain, and control systems designs





Advanced knowledge of hardware design principles, including designs using high-speed interfaces, RF front ends, and FPGA-based boards





Strong knowledge, passion, and experience of ADCs and DACs, power supply components and design, analog testing and troubleshooting, signal integrity, layout, grounding principles, basic digital design fundamentals





Experience with MATLAB, specifically Simulink





Proficient with high speed transceivers, kinematics implementation, encoders and torque sensors, and video image processing





Strong work ethic, drive to succeed, and ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, pressurized environment





Demonstrated ability to apply diagnostic insight to identify technical problems, propose viable options, and apply technical solutions





Adept at learning applicable technology, systems, and products





Self-starter who takes initiative and works both independently and within a team





Drives tasks and projects to successful completion, including taking ownership of goals and schedules





Displays excellent time-management and problem-solving skills





Grasps and engages in fast-paced technical conversations
