Senior Engineer (Controls and Vehicle Integration)

is enabling the transition to self-driving vehicles through an initial focus on the most commercially advanced sector; the autonomous shuttling of goods and people.

Your Team





Your team is responsible for taking our vehicles' understanding of the world and turning it into real-world driving behaviour - whatever the vehicle or application. You'll be at the sharp end of our system, making a real and immediate impact on vehicle performance across our vehicle fleet around the world.





Your Role





Our successful candidate will use their existing controls and vehicle integration experience to design and develop software to seamlessly integrate our autonomy stack into our customer and development vehicles. 





You will:





Identify, understand and respond to challenges and opportunities for vehicle control presented by specific vehicle platforms or operational environments.





Contribute to our core control algorithms and associated tools to maximise control performance across the fleet and optimise new vehicle deployments.





Be among the first to get your hands on new and cutting-edge vehicle projects, working with customers and suppliers to reach Universal Autonomy.





Working as part of a team, supporting and guiding team members, suggesting and discussing high level approaches to solve problems, code reviews & pair programming.





Contribute to agile sprint cycles to deliver on time, including planning, reviewing, and highlighting risk or scope creep against project requirements





Requirements





What you need to succeed:





An engineering-related degree and professional experience in software engineering, control systems and/or systems integration for robotics, motorsport or automotive.





Production level C++ development experience.





Experience working with vehicle networks (e.g. CAN) and electromechanical components.





Proven experience delivering real things to real customers.





Proven record of leading and delivering projects as part of a team.





Effective technical communication and leadership skills.





An appreciation for the role of safety, security and ethics in robotics and AI.





Extra kudos:





Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for automotive software development





An understanding of vehicle dynamics & control, and experience applying this to real-world problems





Experience working with highly complex, safety-critical systems





Experience testing your work in the field or on the track





An understanding of automotive software development and validation practices

The total compensation pay range for this position is expected to be between $100,000 - $130,000 USD per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as skills, job-related knowledge and location.
