RoleWe are currently looking for an experienced environmental planner who brings expertise in the environmental scope (feasibility, impact assessment, permitting, monitoring, due diligence) of land development, building and industrial projects in Spain. The focus of the role is to support the growth of our environmental business in Spain and our environment local team in Madrid, as well as contributing to the successful delivery of projects across Europe.The person will be involved in the following tasks: Setting the vision and priorities for Arup’s Spain business in the Environmental Services market. Increasing Arup’s work on Environmental Services consultancy projects across existing and new clients to secure a strong pipeline of work in Spain. Leading and supporting a team of environmental experts in Madrid to deliver excellent work, ensuring the quality of the work delivered and developing the appropriate skillset to the environmental service offering. Minimum requirementsNobody is perfect and all career paths are different. We look forward to receiving your application,even if you do not fulfil all our requirements: Degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Forest Engineering, Ecology or equivalent qualificationSignificant experience in the Spanish environmental planning and permitting regulatory framework, requirements and stakeholders, private and publicExperience the development and processing of environmental planning documentation (Strategic Environmental assessment (Evaluación Ambiental Estratégica - EAE) and Environmental Impact assessment (Estudios de Impacto Ambiental - EIA) of projects in SpainExperience in managing stakeholders and negotiating with public administration bodies: river basing authorities (Confederaciones hidrográficas), cattle track authorities (Vías Pecuarias), natural environment (Medio natural), forestry authorities (Montes)…Collaborative and team-player approach for working closely with our urban planning, design and engineering colleagues.Strong management and communication skillsFluent in English and Spanish Assessable requirements Experience in industrial sites and Integrated Environmental Authorization (Autorización Ambiental Integrada).Capacity to perform environmental monitoring duties during construction and operation phases of projects, undertaking site visits in Spain and internationally. Knowledge in biodiversity / ecology.
