Rosebery offers exceptional outdoor experiences with fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, rock climbing and walking at your doorstep.Senior Environmental Specialist- ApprovalsWe are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist who will be responsible for supporting the project and Study teams with relevant environmental approvals.Reporting to the Superintendent Environmental Projects, this position is focused on providing technical environmental support and guidance to project personnel, focussing on directly supporting applicable life extension studiesThis role is offered on an 5/2:4/3 roster in Rosebery or Burnie and DIDO from other locations in Tasmania.Competencies, qualifications and skills: Undergraduate or postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Environmental or Earth Sciences.Experience in the preparation of environmental approvals documents, government liaison and obtaining regulatory approvals in Tasmania.Demonstrable industry experience including mine site operational experience;Experience with State and Commonwealth approval processes with a track record of gaining approvalsTrack record in influencing positive organisational change in a site SHEC role;Demonstrated experience directing and managing contractor or consultant activities.Scheduling and budget control to enable team prioritisation and time management across multiple tasks.Excellent communication and influencing skills with a demonstrated ability to contribute and work effectively in a team. Key responsibilities will include: Provide technical Environmental approval support and guidance to the Project/Study teams.Provide active support to Environmental Project Superintendent in their environmental obligations and activities.Ensure alignment with the MMG Operating Model at all times within the roles' sphere of control and influence.Identifying environmental legal requirements and obtaining regulatory environmental approvals.Coordinating environmental impact assessments and development of materials to support applications for environmental approvals in state and commonwealth jurisdictions.Develop scope of works to address EPA issues Project Specific Guidelines (PSG)Assisting internal stakeholders with the interpretation of environmental approval requirements and conditions.Assistance in the lodgement of all environmental plans, procedures, safe working instructions, Notices of Intent, statutory management plans or requisite technical studies to support existing operations or planned project developments and activities.Critically review proposed changes to environmental regulation and policy, identifying impacts to the business.Develop future work plans to support Project Implementation.Update and inform the project/study manager of developments that will impact the project schedule, scope, and cost.Control expenditure within agreed budgets.Monitor and report site compliance with environment-related licences and regulations.
