
Senior Estimator
Job Description
The Estimator for General Construction we are seeking will enjoy the challenge of working within the greater Construction Services group. This person will support the Tenant Improvement/Restoration division for Denver, CO. Project types are most often office, retail, industrial, and hospitality remodels. Projects range from $10K-$5M and have durations spanning from one-week to four-months. This tremendous opportunity offers significant upside in terms of experience and financial growth. Assist our existing team to continue the rapid growth of the division by expanding the client network and seeking new construction opportunities.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage estimating staff and estimate preparation.
- Develop profit strategy and ensure profit objectives are maximized and maintained within estimates.
- Train staff to perform estimating functions in a consistent manner across markets
- Internal: updating bid boards, monitoring estimating email accounts, consistent server setup, etc.
- External: expectations during job walks, client interaction, proposal preparation, subcontractor engagement, follow-up for feedback, etc.
- Identify project risks and ensure proposals are priced accurately based on risk and ensure scope coverage
- Maintain internal unit cost database
- Manage subcontractor relationships across markets ensuring work is distributed appropriately amongst vendors
- Pursue new jobs/assignments, interface with potential clients.
- Collaborate with sales/business development team to develop leads and prospects
- Develop and execute account management practices (retention of existing accounts)
- Ensure assignments are executed on-time and on-budget with technical proficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Review and interpret plans and specifications.
- Manage deadlines, progress, and quality on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Promote safety as a priority both in-house and on-site, in accordance with corporate policy
Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years experience in the Construction industry with previous experience estimating and managing personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, construction-related field (i.e.: architecture, construction management, engineering) preferred.
Position Requirements
- Able to review and interpret architectural and engineered construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience building relationships with clients, subcontractors, and design teams.
- A natural leader who enjoys teaching and mentoring others
- Experience in delivery of projects on-time and on-budget.
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with superiors, co-workers, clients and subcontractors
- Able to provide oversight and direction to junior staff
- Travel as required to fulfill position and project responsibilities.
- Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
- Attire that represents the company's professional image on a daily basis.
- Candidates should be familiar with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, contracts, estimating and take-offs, and as-built drawings.
- Work in a construction setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions.
- Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages.
- Proficiency of the Microsoft Office suite.
- OSHA-10 or -30 certification preferred
Additional Information
The pay range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 per year.
