Senior Geotechnical Engineer

RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Milan or Rome, Italy within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.MissionThe successful candidate will be highly organized, detailed-oriented and responsible of his/her technical duties, capable of working autonomously and under supervision, executing projects within the division, interfacing and coordinating with other peers. You will work on challenging offshore and onshore projects, providing consultancy on ground characterization and foundation design. Working together as a global team, you will be expected to achieve extraordinary results in a demanding and challenging business environment that is constantly changing.Key Accountabilities- Develop of geotechnical engineering projects from the preliminary phase to the detailed design, as well as the technical control of projects developed by other parties under the supervision of a principal engineer or a managing engineer.- Design of foundation/retaining structures (bearing capacity, settlement, soil–structure interaction), slope stability, underground structures design and other geotechnical topics.- Develop finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses.- Obtain soil and rock samples to determine compressibility, efficiency, strength and other certain factors that affect the structure’s behaviour. - Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers. - Prepare the technical deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentations and engineering drawings, etc). - Prepare progress technical reports. - Be aware and understand the Quality Policy and ensuring that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. #LI-AC2EducationMaster’s Degree in Geotechnical EngineeringQualificationsExperience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a proven track record of project development and design. PhD is a advisable requirement. Experience in offshore campaigns is considered a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in geotechnical engineering principles and practices, with a strong background in foundation and retaining structure design, slope stability analysis, underground structures design, and other geotechnical topics. Experience in developing finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses,. Ability to interpret results from laboratory testing to determine compressibility, strength, and other factors affecting structure behavior. Experience in the use of the main geotechnics software packages (Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil) or programming languages is considered a plus Availability to join offshore campaigns on board of vessels/platform for a maximum continuous period of 30-40 days (1-2 times during a year). Onshore and offshore geotechnical assessments including foundation design (shallow/deep), soil-structure interaction, pipe/cable-soil interaction assessments and geohazard related engineering assessments.
