We are currently seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist/Environmental Engineer to complement our innovative team in the Whitehorse office. The ideal candidate is someone that is interested in being a key member of our growing geo-environmental team with a strong focus on northern environmental practice.Responsibilities: Provide technical and strategic leadership in the growth of geo-environmental capacity within the Whitehorse Environmental Team. The geo-environmental discipline is defined to include geoscience (mainly geology, hydrogeology and associated disciplines) and environmental engineering (contaminated sites, solid waste, wastewater, clean energy projects).Leading the design and delivery of geo-environmental assessments of all scalesPeer review of technical workMentorship and coaching of staffEstablishing a reputation for high level geo-environmental expertise and specialized services, internally (to other MH Business Units) and externally to existing and new clients.Maintaining relationships with existing clients and building relationships with new clientsCreating winning proposalsKnowledge of geo-environmental specifics (e.g., soils and rock classification, borehole logging and geo-environmental data management and analysis, cross-section production)Strong conceptual skills in evaluation of geological and hydrogeological systemsDirection of report writing, and preparation of specifications and estimatesWriting effective, professional level engineering reportsProject management of projects with small to moderate scope and complexityQualifications: P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation or eligible to register with EGBC/EYB.A.Sc. or M.A.Sc. in Environmental Engineering or Geoscience10 years or greater relevant experience in geo-environmental practice, either as a specialist (e.g, modeler) or generalist (e.g., project manager)Experience working with various levels of government and the private sectorDirect experience with the regulatory environment in YukonProven track record of success in delivering viable cost-effective solutions to geo-environmental related projectsExperience in planning, design, costing and management of geo-environmental projectsStrong interest in growing and developing the company's geo-environmental practice through the coaching / technical mentoring of staffAbility to work well independently and in a strong team environmentJob Type:RegularJob Profile: For internal useTechnical VAttention Staffing & Recruitment Agencies: Morrison Hershfield will not pay fees for recruitment activities related to the hiring of a candidate unless a written service agreement has been established between a duly authorized representative of our Corporate Human Resources department and the recruitment/placement firm.
