They are a major integrated electricity generator, and electricity and natural gas retailer leading the way in innovation and project development. The Role The Senior Instrument and Controls Specialist provides various technical services to meet the needs of the Power Station's Business Plan and Performance Objectives. These services include Project development & execution, technical investigations, fault finding, maintenance and testing. This position works in conjunction with internal & external customer groups such as Operations, Engineering, Key Suppliers and seeks guidance from Electrical Maintenance Team Lead on technical or associated plant matters. Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all relevant OHS&E legislation, codes of practice, standards, policies, operating procedures, PTW System and work instructions. Develop and Implement Management of Change Documentation to address plant obsolescence and Improvements. Act In the role of the Electrical Supervisor during period of leave. Mentor Electrical Technicians in their development In Instruments & Controls to ensure the required succession plans are in place. Participate in Major and Minor plant and equipment outages leading the craft labour. Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities for processes/systems and work practices. Resolve defects whilst maintaining station performance and meeting operational targets by returning plant to normal operating service. Required Experience Advanced Diploma in Instrumentation Controls or Similar Relevant Electrical and Instrumentation Trade Certificate Experienced in PLC and DSC Experience in working within a Permit to Work system. Interpersonal skills enabling effective communication on complex technical and procedural matters, with considerable analytical and interpretive capability. External communication with sales representatives, suppliers and contractor’s staff, including negotiation of costs for supply of equipment, and the arrangements for demonstrations of new technology and equipment Desirable requirements Experience in working with Distributed Control Systems. Advanced Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Min >5 years’ experience In a similar role. High-Risk Work Licenses (WP, FL, DG, RB, BA, TO) or willingness to obtain If required.
